A high-stakes, competitive proposal project focused on designing a modern, user-centered presentation for IT optimization.
Project Description
The BCG Federal case team engaged Design Studios to create a distinctive, modern presentation deck for a competitive IT optimization proposal. The request required balancing government formality with creative, user-centered storytelling while clearly differentiating BCG from competitors. In addition to the core deck, a digital one-pager illustration was requested to visually reinforce themes of optimization, connectivity, and transformation.
My Role
I led the proposal’s creative execution by defining the concept, visual direction, and co-branded design system for the presentation deck and digital one-pager. Through close collaboration with a small design team, I provided guidance on photography, artifacts, and layouts to ensure consistency and a high standard of quality. In partnership with the Project Manager, I supported timelines, conducted quality reviews, and maintained daily creative alignment through final submission.
Impact
Early development of a tailored design system streamlined the creative process, enabling the team to focus on elevating storytelling, optimizing resources, and reducing rework during internal reviews. In a highly competitive RFP against competing firms, BCG distinguished itself with a proposal of exceptional visual quality that strengthened case team confidence and advanced the firm to the oral presentation stage. The work helped reinforce BCG’s positioning and opened the door to future Federal opportunities.
Custom Presentation
A 40-slide custom presentation deck, including 22 bespoke slides and 18 supporting slides, was developed to deliver a cohesive, high-impact narrative for the proposal.
Digital One-Pager
A custom isometric one-pager illustration was created to visually map the full spectrum of best-in-class IT services in a clear, cohesive, and easily digestible format.
The People Have Spoken…
Mallory and team were given relatively vague qualitative guidance on how to achieve this requirement, but through Mallory’s efforts, a sleek, creative visual style was synthesized, perfectly capturing the vision and aspirations of the pitch team.
This result also held true for specific specialty slides containing bespoke graphics and customized visualizations.
